a ministry of

fayette baptist church

Fayette Christian School is a ministry of Fayette Baptist Church. Our church and school are committed to providing a high quality Christian education for children as we partner with parents to influence a generation that is a driving force for change, both academically and spiritually.

HOW FCS STARTED

When Fayette Baptist Church was founded in August 2012, God had already stirred the hearts of our leaders for Christ-centered education. The church launched with a heart and desire to glorify the Lord and minister to the entire Fayette County community through the mission to "Know God Intimately, Grow Disciples Purposely, and Go Serve Others Intentionally."

The first three years of existence the church actually met at West Jr. High for its programs and worship services and was blessed to partner with FCPS in multiple outreach endeavors. Since that time the church has seen the Lord do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Eph. 3:20) as it has been blessed to partner with each school, both public and private, throughout Fayette County over the years to impact students and families. Whether that be through teacher in-service, graduations, fundraisers, tutoring, substitute teaching, athletic teams and events, career days, after school clubs, chapels, or retreats, the Lord has opened doors for the mission to expand through education.

As the church began to grow in its first year, initial steps were taken in forming a School Discovery Team to simply explore the possibilities of starting a Christian school one day in Fayette County. This team met for almost a year in 2013 and collaborated with the staff regarding the discoveries. In addition to this, a Homeschool Support Ministry was also started in efforts to encourage families who might be educating their kids at home.

As plans were developed in 2014 for the church to purchase land and begin construction on a new campus additional steps were taken regarding school ministries. The church broke ground on construction in January of 2015 and moved into its new facilities on Highway 64 in October 2015 while also celebrating its 3 Year Anniversary.

Over the next few years, the church continued to pray about Christian education while meeting and collaborating with similar church/school ministries both locally and throughout the country. Our Summer Day Camp program was also launched in 2016 as an avenue to minister to families with kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade each summer.

In addition to these school developments, other avenues of outreach through restoration and recovery began and in 2018, the Hope House Food Pantry and Clothes Closet opened to the public.

Early in 2019, the church formed a Vision Team, along with a School Development Team, to begin taking action on the vision of starting a Kingdom School. The team spent over a year with meetings, conferences, tours of other Kingdom schools, research, and times of prayer together seeking the Lord on His plan for a school.  As a result of all of this, Fayette Christian School was birthed in 2019 and officially launched in the Fall of 2020 as a ministry of the church.

Meet our pastor

DREW MURPHY Senior Pastor

Pastor Drew is the senior pastor at Fayette Baptist Church and is married to Stacy Murphy. They have three daughters Kylie (20), Kenzie (18), and Kolbie (13). Drew grew up going to church faithfully while also living in a Christian home. His father Gary was a coach and teacher before moving into vocational ministry at Raleigh Baptist Church while his mom Kay worked for a missions organization called World Changers as part of NAMB. The Murphy family lived in Bartlett and Drew attended local public schools before having the opportunity to attend two different Christian Schools in high school.

While attending a leadership retreat in Nashville his senior year Drew surrendered his life to the Lord and began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He was also introduced to his wife that same year. Drew was heavily involved in basketball, football, soccer, and baseball throughout high school and attended college on a basketball scholarship. He graduated with a degree in History Education from Tennessee Temple University and went on to receive his Masters in Ministry from Temple Baptist Seminary.

Drew has been blessed to serve in various ministry positions in multiple churches throughout Memphis and Knoxville while also speaking to students all throughout the country at camps, retreats, and conferences. Christian Education and ministry to kids of all ages has always been a heartbeat that Drew has carried with him throughout the past 25 years of ministry.

"When I look back at my life I was blessed beyond belief to be able to grow up with Godly parents, siblings, and a great church home. My upbringing gave me an understanding of the gospel and who Jesus was. Despite those blessings, however, my life did not reflect that of a Christ follower, though I professed to be a Christian. As I struggled with purpose and identity I am grateful for the many examples that God put into my life. Several students, teachers, and coaches at my school did not just share Christ but showed Christ to me day in and day out. This outpouring of love along with my youth pastors persistence and prayers led me to salvation. I will be forever grateful for the impact these relationships and experiences had on my life. My hope and desire is to see as many girls and boys from all walks of life have this same opportunity that I was given. This is a big part of the mission of FCS and I am excited to see this school launched for Kingdom impact."
