KINDERGARTEN - 5TH GRADE

Fayette Christian elementary school offers both traditional and innovative educational opportunities within the context of a biblical worldview. We address the individual needs of our students and maintain an active learning environment. Our desire is to prepare students to be lifelong learners who love learning new concepts about the world and God. Partnering with parents and churches to develop this firm foundation of a Christ-centered worldview is vital. Elementary years are key in developing students’ God-given talents and abilities.

Students in elementary establish a foundation not only of knowledge, but also of study skills and habits that will serve them well throughout their time at Fayette Christian School and beyond. Classroom experiences and extracurricular activities build up well-rounded students who are prepared to serve Jesus through their giftings.

Our elementary program provides a strong foundation in the disciplines of Bible, math, reading, writing, grammar, social studies and science. Students also participate in weekly electives such as Art, Spanish, Music, Library, PE, STEM, & Technology.

KINDERGARTEN

• Reading/Phonics—learn how to read phonetically with a 450-word vocabulary in readers
• Writing—cursive writing letters, words and sentences
• Numbers—concept and count 1 to 100, begin addition and subtraction
• Bible, poetry, science

1ST GRADE

• Reading—phonics and word-analysis skills
• Writing—spelling, cursive writing words and sentences
• Arithmetic—emphasis on addition and subtraction, place value, time, money, story problems, simple fractions, and measures
• Bible, Science, History, Health, Poetry

2ND GRADE

• Reading — phonics concepts that develop their reading skills, vocabulary, books, stories and poems
• Writing—spelling, sentence structure, short stories, cursive
• Arithmetic—emphasis on place value, addition and subtraction, money, graphs, measurement, time, temperature, and fractions
• Bible, Science, History, Health, Poetry

3RD GRADE

• Reading — phonics review, sequencing, making inferences, drawing conclusions, and predicting outcomes with various genres
• Writing—spelling, parts of speech, sentence structure, cursive, writing process
• Arithmetic—emphasis on addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, geometry, and measurement
• Bible, Science, History, Health, Poetry

4TH GRADE

• Reading — sequencing, making inferences, drawing conclusions, predicting outcomes , cause and effect, compare and contrast, problem and solution with various genres
• Writing—spelling, parts of speech, sentence structure, cursive, writing process
• Arithmetic—emphasis on addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, geometry, and measurement

5TH GRADE

• Christ-centered academic curriculum using Abeka and BJU Press
• Bible class which allow children to apply biblical truths from God’s Word to their own lives, demonstrate knowledge of the doctrines of the Bible, and choose prayer and memorizing Scripture to grow in their faith
